Maintaining Your Weed-Wacker / String Trimmer

In between professional maintenance service, there are several things you can do yourself to keep your weed-wacker / or trimmer running smoothly.

Below is our list of suggestions:

  • During the season:
    • Check your string and replace it if necessary.
    • Clean off the unit after every use by hosing it down and hanging it to thoroughly dry.
    • Change the oil in your gas trimmer regularly. (Follow the manufacturer’s recommended oil type and amount of oil to use as specified in the Owner’s manual.)

  • At the end of the season, when you are done using your trimmer and are ready to safety store it away, be sure to:
    • Thoroughly clean your trimmer, hosing it to remove any dirt or debris.
    • Replace the string if needed.
    • To prevent rust and corrosion when being stored, oil all parts with lubricant.
    • The fuel tank is completely empty. This will keep the carburetor and fuel lines clear of fuel while in storage.
    • Check all of the nuts and screws to be sure they are tightened.
